Key Responsibilities

The Personal Care Aide provides essential daily living support to older adults with warmth and compassion, following the resident service plan.

Daily Living Activities:

  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Handle laundry, change bed linens, and maintain cleanliness in resident rooms.
  • Provide oral hygiene care.
  • Safely transfer residents using mechanical equipment as necessary.
  • Serve meals according to dietary requirements.

Communication & Engagement:

  • Establish positive relationships with residents.
  • Interact professionally with residents, families, team members, and visitors.
  • Supervise residents during activities.
  • Facilitate small group activities.
  • Engage residents in meaningful conversations.

Mobility Assistance:

  • Prepare and transport residents to appointments and activities.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning residents safely.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Adhere to resident service plans diligently.
  • Communicate necessary changes in care routines.
  • Notify supervisors of any changes in resident conditions.
  • Accurately measure and record vital signs in electronic records.

Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in a direct caregiving role, though not mandatory.
  • Experience in assisted living, skilled nursing, or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 lbs; assistance or equipment is required for heavier loads.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Completion of designated medication assistance training is required.
