Position Overview:

The Technical Sales Engineer serves as the key liaison for all sales-related inquiries at Piller, focusing on inside sales initiatives to bolster the sales efforts for a diverse range of Piller products and services. This role reports directly to the Technical Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main contact for Piller Sales (both internal and external) in preparing technical proposals and determining costs.
  • Analyze and assess customer technical specifications to identify the optimal application of Piller's offerings.
  • Draft technical and commercial proposal documents along with necessary cost data for projects ranging from several hundred kilo-Watts to multi mega-Watt systems. Coordinate proposal preparation among various Piller departments, headquarters in Germany, vendors, and client contacts.
  • Assist in creating project-specific specification documents for vendors, including switchgear, magnetics, enclosures, diesel generators, and batteries.
  • Ensure adherence to current sales operations standards for all Piller products and services, including:

* Bills of materials, equipment pricing, and quotations.

* Pricing for start-up, service, and maintenance contracts.

* Delivery timelines and inventory status.

* Proposal information and technical documentation.

* Commercial aspects, such as payment terms, insurance, tax rates, and shipping costs.

  • Manage CRM tools in relation to sales forecasts.
  • Support the Technical Sales Manager and VP of Sales in maintaining the technical and commercial database, recommending enhancements to databases and sales workflows.
  • Stay informed about all Piller products and the latest trends in critical power systems applications.
  • Comprehend Piller's marketing, sales, distribution, installation, and service functions, providing assistance as needed to ensure proper market perception of Piller's products.
  • Become well-acquainted with sales opportunities identified by direct sales representatives and assist Directors/Managers in closing these opportunities.
  • Maintain vigilance for improvement opportunities and make recommendations as appropriate. Additionally, pursue ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
  • Foster an effective teamwork relationship with all Piller personnel.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Educational and Training Requirements:

The Technical Sales Engineer should possess training and experience in the following areas:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, or
  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of technical sales support experience in the electrical or electronic sector, or
  • Technical school and/or equivalent military technical training with at least two (2) years of technical sales support experience in critical power systems.

Experience:

  • Experience in the UPS or related power industry is advantageous.
  • Professional background in applications or technical sales support.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • No specific licenses required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong time management, planning, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within the Power Engineering community.
  • Achievement-oriented with independent working capabilities are necessary.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office and familiarity with CAD and CRM systems.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands are minimal and typical of similar roles in comparable organizations.
  • This is primarily an office-based position with occasional travel requirements.
