Job Title: Diesel Technician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at STA of New York, Inc. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles, including buses and vans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake adjustments.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines and related systems.
  • Collaborate with the dispatch office and location manager to schedule repairs and services.
  • Lead a team of maintenance technicians in handling both scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
  • Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years' experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking, or heavy-equipment environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning.
  • Current State Driver's License with a clean driving record and ability to maintain.
  • Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills, and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills with the ability to problem solve.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Secondary education or specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses.
  • Possession of a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  • ASE Certification(s) a plus - training available to obtain.
