We are currently seeking applications from recent New Grad RN candidates as well as those graduating soon. Orientation may commence pending your licensure results.

The HCA Healthcare Residency Program is a comprehensive year-long initiative designed to provide you with practical experience, fostering essential clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Resident Graduate Nurse, you will be part of a supportive network of nurse educators, seasoned nurses, and fellow residents, all committed to facilitating your transition from student to registered nurse.

Role Summary and Qualifications

The Residency Program at Overland Park Regional Medical Center equips you with the necessary tools to thrive in a hospital setting. This compensated program facilitates your transition from academic learning to practical application through a structured series of educational experiences, including:

  • Specialized clinical training in a chosen area.
  • Monthly educational workshops.
  • Preceptorship with an experienced facility mentor.
  • Skills assessment through hands-on simulations.
  • Guidance from seasoned nursing leaders.
  • Collaborative engagement in evidence-based practice projects.

Responsibilities

The RN Resident is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental requirements and nursing standards. In collaboration with healthcare providers and the care team, the RN Resident offers individualized, compassionate care utilizing established nursing frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluating patient conditions upon admission and throughout each shift, reporting any changes in status.
  • Executing procedures and monitoring as directed by medical providers, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Administering prescribed medications and monitoring patient responses.
  • Providing exceptional care by promptly addressing patient needs and proactively resolving issues.
  • Educating patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing completed by the start date.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the relevant state.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Local travel may be necessary for training during the initial orientation period.
