This nursing professional will operate at the peak of their capabilities, providing support to various healthcare providers.
The outpatient clinic registered nurse holds the authority, responsibility, and accountability for delivering nursing care through the nursing process.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for applying proficient clinical knowledge and exercising independent nursing judgment for care delivered by themselves and by healthcare providers to whom care is delegated, ensuring quality patient care outcomes.
The RN must also have the capability to assess and interpret patient data necessary to identify each patient's needs based on their age-specific requirements.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Delivers direct patient care within the outpatient environment, adhering to the nursing process and within their role/scope of practice.
- Conducts preliminary assessments of patients through observation and chart review to ensure appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
- Evaluates complex or unstable patient care scenarios and facilitates necessary interventions.
- Implements sound clinical decisions and demonstrates effective use of expert peers and/or management as needed.
- Accepts accountability and utilizes independent nursing judgment for care provided by themselves and by healthcare providers to whom care is delegated.
- Demonstrates effective use of standards, resources, and evaluation of patient responses in the delivery of care.
- Identifies educational needs of patients.
- Responsible for providing educational instruction to patients and their families regarding healthcare needs.
- Assesses the effectiveness of patient and family education and documents findings in patient records.
- Responds to and refers incoming patient treatment-related inquiries.
- Completes necessary documentation (i.e., FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtains required signatures as appropriate.
- Must be capable of performing the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Less than 1 year and 6 months of RN experience
- 2 or more years of RN experience to qualify as an Outpatient Clinic RN PRN
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing. Must possess a current active multistate RN license in good standing in the state of residence OR an active single state RN license in good standing in the state of employment with proof of application for a multistate RN license in the state of residence.
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days.
