Job Overview

Position Summary

The Engineering Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the organization, upkeep, and repair of all hotel facilities, including public areas, pools, guest accommodations, restrooms, dining venues, and event spaces. This role necessitates strict compliance with departmental policies and procedures as delineated in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOP's).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Engineer in managing all operations related to hotel facilities, ensuring the aesthetic quality of all areas and the optimal performance of equipment related to HVAC, electricity, kitchen operations, laundry, lighting, and plumbing.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff within the engineering team, ensuring thorough training and guidance as needed.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in implementing policies and systems aimed at enhancing departmental performance while maintaining strict control over costs and payroll.
  • Address and follow up on customer complaints to ensure satisfactory resolutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections to assess the safe and efficient maintenance of the hotel's physical structures and all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ensure the completion of routine maintenance tasks across public spaces, meeting rooms, and back-of-house areas, as well as overseeing repair and renovation projects.
  • Monitor guest requests to ensure timely completion and maintain accurate records of tasks through the designated tracking system.
  • Implement effective Preventive Maintenance programs for public areas and provide specialized training for new hires.
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance of all hotel equipment, assigning specific tasks based on employee skills and experience.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical School education preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory engineering role or as a lead technician is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of safety equipment while operating machinery and tools.
  • Capability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending and twisting.
  • Effective communication with team members and guests through verbal and visual means.
  • Adaptability to varying temperatures within the hotel environment.
