Job Overview

Position Title: Engineering Supervisor

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Engineering

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Engineering Supervisor plays a crucial role in delivering both technical and administrative support to the Director of Engineering while leading all operational functions within the Engineering Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver professional and respectful service to both team members and guests.
  • Oversee all maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, including but not limited to refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, and various equipment across the facility.
  • Conduct daily inspections to track energy consumption for electricity, gas, and water.
  • Train engineering personnel and ensure the completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure that all projects are executed in accordance with established specifications and timelines.
  • Adhere to lockout-tagout procedures and other safety protocols as mandated by OSHA standards.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance services across guest rooms, food and beverage areas, conference spaces, and public zones.
  • Perform equipment checks and maintain accurate logs.
  • Report any safety or security issues to the Director of Engineering or the Manager on Duty without delay.
  • Ensure the security of all key inventories.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies as they arise.
  • Engage in ongoing maintenance programs for event spaces, public areas, kitchens, and all equipment within the convention center.
  • Carry out inventory tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of grounds and the aesthetic appeal of landscaping.
  • Ensure that all workspaces and storage areas are organized and tidy.
  • Procure materials or equipment as needed.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.
  • Complete projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in HVAC, electrical work, carpentry, and painting is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel engineering is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or management capacity is required.
  • Experience in condominium or hotel settings is preferred.
  • Pre-opening experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a four-year college degree is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
  • Capable of working well under pressure and responding promptly to emergencies.
