Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Senior Certification Engineer is responsible for acquiring the necessary approvals from designated authorities to ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory standards for Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), enabling Greenpoint Technologies to provide high-quality products and services within the aviation sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the coordination of certification personnel, both internal and external, for the evaluation and endorsement of engineering documentation in accordance with FAA regulations or similar airworthiness entities.
  • Formulates certification strategies, compliance frameworks, and conformity assessments.
  • Creates technical documentation essential for fulfilling primary responsibilities.
  • Schedules and manages conformity inspections, collaborating with FAA representatives and scrutinizing data packages pre- and post-inspection.
  • Supports laboratory and aircraft testing activities pertinent to certification responsibilities.
  • Assists senior management in budgeting for new and ongoing certification initiatives.
  • May act as the functional lead for the Certification team on specific projects.
  • Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality in the workplace.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in FAA airworthiness regulations.
  • Experience managing STC projects, ideally with Seattle ACO.
  • Proficient in developing Certification Plans and overseeing part and installation compliance.
  • Experienced in producing technical documents such as test reports and certification deliverables.
  • Familiar with MS Outlook, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), and web-based applications.
  • CAD skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Capable of interpreting engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Proficient in drafting technical reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public speaking skills for presenting technical information.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
  • Demonstrates common sense in executing written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Ability to manage complex problems with multiple variables.
  • Physical capability to sit for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge
  • Meets high standards for project timelines, budgets, and technical solutions.
  • Adapts and leads customized processes for unique certification scenarios.
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency under tight deadlines with minimal error tolerance.
  • Experience in communication with DERs, DARs, and regulatory personnel is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of STC certification across various domains, including compliance with interior, flammability, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in engineering is required, along with a minimum of four years of relevant STC or TC certification experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A background in aerospace and experience in the aircraft interior industry are advantageous.
