Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg-Telemetry position is essential for nurses with over 12 months of experience. This role involves delivering and coordinating comprehensive care to patients within a specialized clinical environment as an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The RN will utilize the institution's care delivery and professional practice frameworks as a guide for nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities associated with this role:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in caring for the specific patient population; independently applies strong clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for colleagues.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into patient care.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care, advocating for the needs of patients and families.
  • Models practices that ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Professional Development:

  • Engages in ongoing professional development and education.
  • Maintains required competencies for the specific patient care setting.
  • Participates in unit-based staff development activities.
  • Serves as a mentor and preceptor for new nurses and nursing students.
  • Contributes to the development and evaluation of orientation and educational programs.
  • Completes continuing education requirements annually.

Quality and Safety:

  • Understands and contributes to achieving unit-based outcomes related to quality measures.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.
  • Delivers high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and participates in safety initiatives.

Operational Duties:

  • May assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
  • Contributes to team-building efforts within the unit.
  • Participates in staff meetings and governance activities.
  • Engages in recruitment and retention efforts at the unit level.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility through Compact state agreements.
  • Minimum of 12 months of nursing experience with solid clinical skills.
  • Current AHA BLS certification is required.
  • Must meet all unit-specific certification requirements.
