Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Event Support Coordinator. This role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of events and classes on campus, providing technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and fulfill event support requests, including scheduling equipment and support as needed.
  • Provide level two support for student consultants and users in classrooms and event spaces.
  • Consult with Smith College community members on event support needs and provide direct support for Smith-sponsored events.
  • Instruct faculty, students, staff, and visitors on how to use classroom equipment and campus network.
Student Worker Supervision
  • Hire, train, and supervise a staff of approximately 20 students to provide direct support for class and event technology needs.
  • Monitor students' consultants' work to ensure requests are being handled appropriately and with an emphasis on excellent customer service.
  • Provide hardware support and maintenance.
  • Assist with the testing and maintenance of event space and classroom A/V and computer equipment.
Cross-team and Professional Development
  • Participate in cross-team projects and attend team meetings as required.
  • Maintain professional skills and stay current with leading practices in the industry and within Higher Education.
Requirements
  • Associates degree plus at least one year of relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Direct experience with audiovisual and sound systems, including microphone setup.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a service organization, particularly at a college or university.
  • Direct supervisory experience of student workers.
  • Experience with calendar, spreadsheet, and scheduling applications.
Skills
  • Familiarity with audio-visual, computing, and projection equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with diverse teams and work effectively with end-users of varying technical knowledge.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent training skills and strong aptitude to learn new technologies quickly.
