Position Overview

Empowering Families and Children for a Brighter Future

ROLE SUMMARY: This position is dedicated to assisting families with children diagnosed with autism. The specialist will provide training, education, and connections to essential services. Additionally, the role involves community education and the creation of opportunities for the integration of children with autism. The specialist will help maintain resource centers that offer current and valuable information to families and the community. A key responsibility is to foster meaningful, long-lasting partnerships between families involved in the Children's Autism Waiver Program and the Department of Developmental Services by developing and coordinating in-home support tailored to the child and family.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Comprehensive knowledge in a relevant field equivalent to a full four-year college education.

2. Familiarity with autism and its treatment methodologies.

3. Experience of 1-3 years working with children and adults with autism and their families.

4. A valid driver's license and dependable transportation are necessary.

5. Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Spanish, along with cultural understanding and experience, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide family support: Develop relationships with families and children with autism; conduct family visits; create support plans and intervention strategies; offer information on available resources and services; maintain ongoing contact and support as required; connect families with peer support; and manage files and records. Collaborate with families and staff to encourage community integration.

2. Collaborate with funding organizations to plan and coordinate the delivery of support services to families; oversee the implementation of these services; and maintain communication with families as necessary.

3. Ensure timely and accurate data entry. Develop and monitor family contracts and budgets.

4. Stay informed about advancements in the field by reading relevant literature and attending workshops and webinars.

5. Oversee the recruitment, training, and scheduling of therapists, skills trainers, and respite workers.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to accommodate program needs, including occasional mornings, evenings, and weekends.

SUPERVISION: Reports to the designated supervisor.

SALARY: $41,540.40
