Position Overview

The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients, adhering to the established standards of practice and organizational protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and prepare patients with professionalism and respect.
  • Accurately measure and record vital signs, height, and weight during each patient visit.
  • Clarify procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed prior to procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medications, injections, and treatments in line with recognized nursing practices and within the designated scope of practice.
  • Prepare necessary equipment and support medical professionals during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Develop and initiate educational plans for patients and their families.
  • Adapt to various departments and office locations as required.
  • Ensure examination rooms are organized, sanitized, and adequately stocked; manage biohazard waste disposal.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow through effective communication with healthcare teams.
  • Respond to phone inquiries and messages promptly, within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Monitor and manage patient correspondence and communications daily.
  • Address patient inquiries within the defined scope of practice.
  • Conduct daily chart reviews and complete necessary logs as required.
  • Assist patients in scheduling lab and specialty appointments.
  • React appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocols.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program is mandatory.
  • Must possess a current, active Florida nursing license in good standing.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
