Role Summary: Cornerstone is seeking a dedicated Personnel Security Operations Specialist to deliver vital administrative assistance to the Sensitive Skills Branch at the 2nd Air Force Technical Training Operations Center. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing and executing security-related functions for military personnel throughout their training journey until they transition to their designated duty station. The Specialist will uphold security standards, manage personnel records, and liaise with various defense entities to bolster the Department of the Air Force's personnel security and accountability initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accessions Oversight: Ensure each accession is appropriately linked to the relevant Security Management Office (SMO) within the Defense Information System for Security (DISS). Supervise the Air Force Recruiting Information Support System-Total Force (AFRISS-TF) for accession activities and take necessary actions to ensure personnel are assigned to the correct SMO.
  2. Continuous Vetting and Incident Management: Process Continuous Vetting (CV) notifications and collaborate with training units to gather and transmit necessary documentation within a 48-hour timeframe. Address security incidents reported by training units by organizing and uploading required documentation into DISS within three days of notification.
  3. Separation and Out-Processing Coordination: Prepare and submit weekly separation rosters by verifying investigation statuses in DISS and requesting investigation cancellations with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). Out-process accessions in DISS and monitor progress through training dashboards, ensuring a seamless transfer to the SMO at the permanent duty station upon training completion.
  4. Reporting and Data Management: Provide weekly updates on CV notifications, information requests, Central Adjudication Requests (CSRs), and DISS processing actions. Compile and submit a lessons learned report at the end of the initial performance period to identify utilized processes and enhancements for future operations.
  5. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with training unit commanders, DoD Central Adjudication Service (DoD CAS), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), and the Defense Insider Threat Management Analysis Center (DITMAC) to ensure efficient processing of security actions.
  6. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Adhere to all security protocols and procedures as outlined in DoDM and DAFI. Participate in periodic progress meetings and provide status reports on personnel security actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in personnel security management or a related field. Proven experience in managing personnel security databases and executing security-related tasks for military personnel.
  • Education and Training: Completion of specialized training courses in personnel security provided by the Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE).
  • Security Clearance: Must possess a final U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in security management software and databases, including DISS and AFRISS-TF. Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail in managing security processes and documentation.
  • Communication and Coordination Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a capacity to collaborate effectively with military personnel and defense agencies.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills: Capability to manage complex security incidents and make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.

Additional Requirements: Must complete initial IA awareness orientation and annual IA refresher awareness training in compliance with DoD Directive. Adherence to the Privacy Act, Title 5 of the US Code, Section 552a, and applicable Agency rules and regulations regarding Privacy Information.
