Hours: 8-5 or 8:30-5:30

Location: Hybrid. M/W/F onsite

- Proficiency in ERP systems

- Competency in MS Office Suite

Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the acquisition of materials and services essential for operational success. This position is pivotal in overseeing purchasing activities, working closely with various departments such as Materials Management, Sales, Production, and Planning to support the company's strategic objectives.

  • Develop strategies to enhance supply chain efficiency, address shortages, and foster strong supplier partnerships.
  • Collaborate with key vendors to secure optimal pricing and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Procure materials, components, and equipment in alignment with production timelines.
  • Coordinate and oversee the flow of materials throughout the development, prototype, and production phases.
  • Expedite orders as necessary to meet production demands.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and their representatives.
  • Provide technical and operational expertise from suppliers to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about materials and procurement best practices.
  • Ensure data accuracy and report discrepancies to relevant parties.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures for the Purchasing Department.
  • Identify challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Assist with special projects within the Operations department.
  • Monitor the progress of parts to ensure adherence to schedules and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on new product launches, ensuring early supplier involvement.
  • Implement process improvements to minimize inventory levels and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Analyze and report on material variances against standard costs.
  • Work with Accounting, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to establish standard costs.
  • Optimize material costs through comprehensive vendor assessments, quality checks, and cost evaluations.
  • Apply cost-effective strategies to support standard costing and make informed make/buy decisions.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Operations Management is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing context.
  • Certifications such as CPM, CPIM, or APICS are advantageous.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required; familiarity with NetSuite or Oracle is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong self-motivation.
  • Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with supplier-managed inventory is beneficial.
  • Proven track record in reducing costs, inventory levels, and lead times.
