Job Overview

General Position Summary

The role involves overseeing the development of the supply base, managing total costs, and facilitating the procurement process for selected direct materials, component parts, and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, solicit, and assess technical requests for quotation documents.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for supplier negotiations and contracts related to assigned purchases.
  • Procure materials, supplies, packaging, and services, issuing purchase orders upon requisition approval.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and coordination with end users, suppliers, subcontractors, and logistics providers to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Provide management with cost analysis data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee projects related to the readiness of new model materials, components, equipment, or tooling.
  • Promote and cultivate a "Development Partner" philosophy to select, nurture, and manage suppliers, emphasizing ethical behavior, mutual trust, respect, candor, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary liaison for supplier negotiations and contracts concerning designated commodities.
  • Assist both the plant and suppliers in ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the main contact for resolving issues that arise between the plant and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Control, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Purchasing to evaluate and screen potential suppliers against technical requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Skilled in developing analytical tools for decision-making using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Technical aptitude and a proactive approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Focused on deadlines and results.

Minimum Qualifications

Education / Work Experience Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or a minimum of 1 year of experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, or a related area.
