Job SummaryThe Environmental Scientist is a key member of our team, responsible for leading environmental site assessments, contaminated site investigation and characterization, remediation, waste disposal, and regulatory permitting. This role requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations, policies, and best practices, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
Essential Duties- Lead contaminated site assessment and remediation projects, including hydrogeology and environmental risk management studies
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates
- Conduct field environmental assessments and compliance activities
- Provide guidance to clients on proper waste disposal practices
- Conduct literature research, compile resource data, and prepare regulatory permit applications
- Perform a variety of environmental services related to development projects, including permit applications, regulatory authorizations, and environmental reports
- Interface directly with clients to understand their needs and develop proposals, scope, costs, schedule, and budgets
- Perform routine office activities
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Experience and education to be certified as an ADEC qualified Environmental Professional
- At least two years of environmental site assessment experience
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications
- Driver's License required
- ADEC qualified Environmental Professional certification
- At least three years of experience in Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) and/or oil spill response planning
- Three years of experience in performing environmental site assessments and remediation designs for federally funded projects
- At least two years of regulatory permitting experience
- Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and Geographic Information System (GIS)
- A minimum of three years of experience working in the Alaska North Slope oil and gas fields
- Familiarity with North Slope Red Book waste handling guidelines
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hr certification required
