Job SummaryThe Environmental Specialist is responsible for leading environmental site assessments, contaminated sites investigation and characterization, remediation, waste disposal, preparing regulatory permit applications, record-keeping and environmental compliance consulting services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead contaminated site assessment/remediation; hydrogeology; and environmental risk management studies and services and remediation design and regulatory agency consultations
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals and cost estimates
- Conduct field environmental assessment and compliance activities
- Provide guidance to clients on proper waste disposal activities
- Conduct literature research, compile resource data, and prepare regulatory permit applications for various projects
- Perform variety of environmental services related to development projects, including permit applications, regulatory authorizations, and environmental reports
- Interfacing directly with clients to understand client needs and develop proposals, scope, costs, schedule and budgets
- Perform routine office activities
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures
- Support ACES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field required
- Possess the experience and education to be certified as an ADEC qualified Environmental Professional
- At least two (2) years of environmental site assessment experience
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications required
- Driver's License required
- ADEC qualified Environmental Professional certification
- At least three (3) years of experience in Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) and or oil spill response planning preferred
- Three (3) years of experience in performing environmental site assessments and remediation designs for federally funded projects preferred
- At least two (2) years of regulatory permitting experience preferred
- Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and Geographic Information System (GIS) preferred
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the Alaska North Slope oil and gas fields preferred
- Familiar with North Slope Red Book waste handling guidelines preferred
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hr certification required
