Job Summary

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for leading environmental site assessments, contaminated sites investigation and characterization, remediation, waste disposal, preparing regulatory permit applications, record-keeping and environmental compliance consulting services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead contaminated site assessment/remediation; hydrogeology; and environmental risk management studies and services and remediation design and regulatory agency consultations
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals and cost estimates
  • Conduct field environmental assessment and compliance activities
  • Provide guidance to clients on proper waste disposal activities
  • Conduct literature research, compile resource data, and prepare regulatory permit applications for various projects
  • Perform variety of environmental services related to development projects, including permit applications, regulatory authorizations, and environmental reports
  • Interfacing directly with clients to understand client needs and develop proposals, scope, costs, schedule and budgets
  • Perform routine office activities
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures
  • Support ACES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field required
  • Possess the experience and education to be certified as an ADEC qualified Environmental Professional
  • At least two (2) years of environmental site assessment experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications required
  • Driver's License required
Preferred Qualifications
  • ADEC qualified Environmental Professional certification
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) and or oil spill response planning preferred
  • Three (3) years of experience in performing environmental site assessments and remediation designs for federally funded projects preferred
  • At least two (2) years of regulatory permitting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and Geographic Information System (GIS) preferred
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the Alaska North Slope oil and gas fields preferred
  • Familiar with North Slope Red Book waste handling guidelines preferred
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hr certification required
