Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Technician to join our team at Kinross Gold. As an Environmental Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our environmental sampling and monitoring programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine sampling and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collect and analyze surface and groundwater samples to monitor water quality.
  • Conduct monthly opacity readings using EPA Method 9 federal standards.
  • Complete various internal and external reports to track environmental performance.
  • Provide staff assistance to operation and maintenance personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year experience in environmental profession preferred.
  • Possess a working knowledge of basic compliance procedures as relates to site permits.
  • Must have or gain an understanding of sampling procedures, safety rules, company policies, emergency procedures, MSHA requirements, environmental regulations and guidance documents.
  • Must maintain required certification for opacity readings.
  • Must have solid computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
