Position Summary:

KMS Solutions is in search of a driven individual to contribute to a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department. This multi-disciplinary team is tasked with ensuring systems safety, conducting environmental qualification testing, and maintaining range operations in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates with relevant educational backgrounds and experience in engineering disciplines are highly sought after.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) encompassing Shock, Vibration, Temperature, Humidity, Inclination, Pressure, Airborne and Structure Borne Noise, and Enclosure assessments.
  • Analyze EQT system requirements.
  • Lead the planning, execution, instrumentation, and data collection for tests.
  • Conduct processing and analysis of acoustic, vibration, and shock data.
  • Review and create test documentation, including plans, procedures, and reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in generating support for testing and integration activities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with all levels of the customer organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with undersea warfare systems and/or Navy training range systems.
  • Specific experience with NUWC Division Newport.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly to customers and company leadership.
  • Adept at working independently and collaboratively to solve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Regular communication is essential, and excellent listening skills are required. The employee may frequently need to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Work Schedule:

The standard workday is eight hours long, with some flexibility allowed upon supervisor approval. Employees must be available during core hours and account for their hours to maintain full-time status.

Telework Options:

This position permits up to 20% telework weekly after the initial six months of employment.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 10% travel may be necessary.
