Overview

The Retail Sales and Management Trainee role is designed to support our commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. In this position, trainees will engage in various sales, merchandising, and operational activities as directed by store leadership. This role provides an opportunity to collaborate closely with the Store Manager to gain insights into the retail operations and the skills necessary for effective management.

Sales and Customer Engagement

  • Welcome customers with a warm and inviting demeanor, consistently ready to provide outstanding service.
  • Address inquiries related to the store and its offerings.
  • Suggest, select, and assist in locating or acquiring products based on customer preferences.
  • Anticipate customer needs by recommending additional items and creating a comprehensive shopping experience.
  • Showcase products by utilizing product knowledge and sales training, sharing insights with team members.
  • Stay informed about current promotions, payment policies, and security measures.
  • Meet or exceed personal sales targets and overall sales goals established by management.
  • Deliver exceptional service across key areas of the store, including the sales floor and checkout.
  • Assist customers with trying on or fitting merchandise.
  • Process transactions and package purchases.
  • Prepare items for alterations as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable about return and exchange policies.
  • Utilize the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) effectively to achieve objectives.
  • Achieve or surpass performance benchmarks in customer loyalty initiatives.
  • Facilitate special orders or coordinate with other locations to fulfill customer requests.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to foster a loyal clientele.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer service standards to meet diverse customer needs.
  • Uphold high standards of performance consistently, regardless of managerial presence.

Team Recruitment, Training, and Development

  • Identify recruitment opportunities through various channels.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere to encourage a supportive team culture.

Visual Merchandising

  • Display merchandise effectively to maximize sales potential.
  • Stay updated on product offerings.
  • Collaborate with team members and customers to gather feedback on products.
  • Ensure the sales floor is well-organized and that new inventory is displayed appropriately.

Operational Duties

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Manage cash registers, including cash handling and balancing drawers.
  • Recognize and address security risks and theft prevention.
  • Adhere to Loss Prevention protocols.
  • Understand and execute Point of Sale (POS) procedures.
  • Follow policies regarding transactions and loss prevention.
  • Perform merchandising tasks, including inventory management and display preparation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding merchandise handling issues.
  • Communicate any policy violations or concerns to management promptly.
  • Comply with company policies and ethical standards.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Internship Responsibilities

  • Complete orientation and training modules as outlined in the management manual.
  • Submit regular progress reports to management.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of products and merchandising strategies.
  • Apply knowledge by managing a specific product category and tracking performance.
  • Motivate and lead the team through performance tracking tools.
  • Enhance skills in recruitment, merchandising, and leadership.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Uphold the mission statement by delivering high-quality customer service and fostering teamwork.
  • Engage in special projects and additional duties as needed.

Supervisory Role

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience

Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; prior experience is not required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Commitment to a long-term career with the company.
