Senior Power Systems Engineer

As a result of our expanding operations, we are looking to recruit a Senior Power Systems Engineer.


Role Highlights:

The Senior Power Systems Engineer will engage directly with clients to conduct short circuit, coordination, and arc flash assessments in a dynamic and high-profile setting. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while serving as a key contact and expert on all ongoing initiatives.

The selected candidate will oversee segments of the engineering team and collaborate with business associates to achieve technical and commercial objectives. Additionally, there will be opportunities to partner with the business team to explore strategies for further organizational growth.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct short-circuit evaluations on electrical distribution systems to ascertain available fault currents at critical points in low and medium voltage networks.
  • Supervise and guide the work of electrical engineers under your direction.
  • Assess the short-circuit ratings of protective devices and related distribution apparatus.
  • Analyze existing system overcurrent protection and coordination, recommending enhancements to optimize the safeguarding and coordination of distribution systems.
  • Create time-current coordination diagrams to establish coordinated settings for both new and existing protective devices.
  • Execute arc flash hazard assessments in accordance with NFPA 70E standards for the electrical distribution system.
  • Interpret specifications, client blueprints, and technical proposals to provide accurate pricing for clients.
  • Maintain daily communication with clients regarding ongoing projects and proactively identify future project requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff on technical tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in power systems engineering, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Ability to independently produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn independently.
  • Skill in managing projects with stringent deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with clients and translate technical requirements into actionable tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to promptly address client inquiries and concerns.
  • Exemplary judgment, discipline, reliability, and accountability.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, field engineers, colleagues, and management.
  • Professional Engineer License is preferred or the willingness to pursue a PE License over time.
  • A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited institution is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in utilizing SKM Systems Analysis software.
