Role Overview

As part of our infrastructure team, you will play a pivotal role in developing tools and products that enhance the capabilities of fellow engineers. This team is crucial in building scalable solutions such as auto-scaling, horizontal sharding, and advanced storage systems. We are currently in the initial stages of constructing our next-generation cells architecture, which aims to support a significantly larger scale than our current capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and automate our innovative cells architecture, a horizontal scaling platform designed to accommodate our expanding global customer base.
  • Implement automation for customer load rebalancing across our cells to ensure seamless operation without downtime.
  • Design and deploy a new Kubernetes staging environment that enables engineers to initiate setups in under a minute.
  • Create tools to enhance developer workflows for a sizable engineering team, such as an online MySQL migration automation tool for managing numerous production database shards.
  • Diagnose and resolve low-level issues, including AWS throughput limitations and network partitions within our AWS VPC.
  • Architect, deploy, and manage asynchronous work queues and high-volume storage systems, demonstrating proficiency in writing code that can manage extensive server operations.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Passion for cloud infrastructure and its applications.
  • A product-oriented mindset, aligned with our mission to innovate workplace dynamics.
  • Experience with highly available, large-scale distributed systems within a significant internet service environment.
  • Proficiency in software systems built on Amazon Web Services.
  • Fluency in dynamic programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or similar.
  • Proven history of successfully launching and delivering complex projects amid high levels of ambiguity.
  • Ability to evaluate the trade-offs of various technical solutions, prioritizing practicality over idealism.
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative, and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading an infrastructure team.
  • Familiarity with scaling data storage solutions like MySQL and Elasticsearch.
  • Advanced skills in Linux systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker technologies.
