SUMMARY: The main objective of this role is to support the daily financial operations of the facility in alignment with established accounting standards and reimbursement guidelines pertinent to nursing facility management, as directed by the Administrator or Finance Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in executing the daily operations of the finance department.
  • Develop and enforce written protocols governing the financial activities of the facility.
  • Help standardize operational methods to enhance efficiency.
  • Route invoices to the relevant department staff for payment authorization.
  • Engage with suppliers/vendors to resolve discrepancies or inquiries regarding invoices.
  • Maintain organized records of all financial transactions related to residents.
  • Oversee and collect outstanding accounts receivable, reporting overdue accounts to the Finance Director.
  • Support the reconciliation of accounts receivable through verification processes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Generate and distribute billing statements.
  • Provide written and verbal recommendations to the Finance Director regarding financial operations.
  • Assist in bank statement reconciliations as required.
  • Help prepare trial balances and financial reports as directed.
  • Perform data processing tasks as necessary.
  • Utilize and develop computer-generated reports and outputs.
  • Ensure proper documentation of resident admission agreements.
  • Adhere to established procedures for managing resident funds, providing quarterly statements to residents.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of updates to the accounting system as needed.
  • Carry out administrative tasks as directed.
  • Engage in training sessions and workshops to stay informed about developments in long-term care.
  • Participate in mandatory training programs as scheduled.
  • Request maintenance for office equipment as necessary.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of all resident information, including protected health information.
  • Ensure residents' rights to fair treatment, privacy, and property are consistently upheld.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare regulations is essential.

  • May be required to assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
