Madison-Davis, LLC is seeking a Finance Manager to become an integral part of our distinguished litigation firm. Established during the financial downturn of 2009 by two esteemed partners from top global law firms, our organization has expanded to over 65 professionals across offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

The Finance Manager will oversee the firm's financial operations, including accounting, client invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. This role will also serve as a trusted advisor to the firm's partners and Chief Operating Officer. The position reports directly to the COO.

  • Generate monthly financial reports and promptly communicate any significant variances.
  • Implement procedural, policy, and system changes to mitigate risks and facilitate firm growth.
  • Analyze and interpret data to derive meaningful insights that guide strategic recommendations.
  • Manage all accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring robust controls and accounting practices.
  • Review payroll files bi-monthly and monthly for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized and accessible financial records for the COO, partners, and auditors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with other leaders to formulate budgets.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly closing processes.
  • Prepare timely journal entries and conduct necessary reconciliations, including partner equity accounts.
  • Monitor cash flow and bank transfer requirements with oversight from the COO.
  • Administer retainer, billing, vendor, and user data across billing, accounting, and expense systems.
  • Record client payments accurately, ensuring they are applied to outstanding invoices.
  • Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and modeling as needed.
  • Become proficient in Power BI, ProLaw, and other financial platforms utilized by the firm.
  • Cross-train with the COO on payroll responsibilities and treasury management to ensure continuity in their absence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with 4-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in financial management, compensation, and budgeting within a mid-sized organization.
  • Familiarity with ProLaw, Aderant Expert Sierra, and Power BI is preferred but not mandatory.
