Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Technician II to join our team at Hawaii County, HI. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting a variety of recreational activities in support of a planned recreation program, as well as assisting higher level staff in implementing a planned recreational program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct instruction for a variety of recreational activities in support of a planned recreation program.
  • Develop plans in consultation with supervisors.
  • Teach, officiate, and/or instruct a variety of recreational specialties such as the performing arts, creative arts, or sports.
  • Prepare fields and facilities for recreational activities.
  • Prepare groups for competitive activities.
  • Recruit participants and volunteers.
  • Assist in planning county-wide specialty programs such as festivals and parades, etc.
  • Act as liaison with public to coordinate use and scheduling of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Attend training sessions, clinics, and workshops.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Prepare and submit reports.
  • Maintain records.
  • May supervise others.
Requirements
  • A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to: graduation from high school, and two (2) years of experience in organizing, conducting, and/or instructing recreational or group activities.
  • Posession of a valid State of Hawai'i driver license (class 3) or any other valid comparable driver license at the time of filing.
