Job Summary

We are seeking a Recreation Technician I to join our team at the County of Maui. This role involves planning, coordinating, and conducting recreational programs and activities, as well as performing other related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct recreational activities for various age groups and interests
  • Meet with community groups to review requests and suggestions for recreational programs
  • Organize and coordinate recreational activities in consultation with supervisors and community input
  • Publicize recreational activities through various channels
  • Manage athletic facilities to ensure safe practices and prevent vandalism
  • Provide attendant and housekeeping services as needed
  • Coordinate and supervise the use of parks, playgrounds, and facilities
  • Recruit, train, and assign officials for recreational activities
  • Arrange for awards and recognition for participants
  • Monitor and evaluate the overall activity
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Two years of full-time experience working directly with groups and individuals in conducting a recreation program or teaching a recreational activity
  • One year of full-time experience in organizing, implementing, and conducting recreational programs
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interaction with the public and community groups. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
