Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Technician I to join our team at the County of Maui. As a Recreation Technician I, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting recreational programs and activities for the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct recreational activities for various age groups and interests
  • Meet with community groups to review requests and suggestions for recreational programs
  • Organize and coordinate recreational activities in consultation with supervisors and incorporate community input
  • Publicize recreational activities through various channels
  • Manage athletic facilities to ensure safe practices and prevent vandalism and abuse
  • Provide attendant and housekeeping services as needed
  • Coordinate and supervise the use of parks, playgrounds, and facilities
  • Recruit, train, and assign officials for recreational activities
  • Arrange for awards and recognition for participants
  • Arrange for housing and transportation for visitors as needed
  • Monitor and evaluate the overall activity
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school and two years of full-time experience working directly with groups and individuals in conducting a recreation program or teaching a recreational activity
  • One year of full-time experience in organizing, implementing, and conducting recreational programs for Grade I
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Knowledge of practical application of the principles, practices, and techniques of recreational activities
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct recreational activities
  • Ability to stimulate participant interest, enthusiasm, and confidence in recreational pursuits
