Position Summary

The Operations Manager will oversee and drive the execution of the facility's strategic vision and mission, ensuring continuous enhancement and alignment with corporate objectives. This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe environment for all team members, achieving production targets efficiently, and upholding rigorous quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily operations of the Retail department, ensuring production goals and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain a secure and controlled environment for all plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality and regulatory standards, specifications, and policies.
  • Collaborate with production planning and materials management to optimize production schedules and enhance customer service.
  • Analyze production reports to ensure safety, quality, and cost efficiency goals are achieved.
  • Set and monitor objectives for the Retail management team, driving performance towards these goals.
  • Develop actionable plans to address areas for improvement.
  • Foster management engagement, training, and development to achieve safety, manufacturing, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Mentor and develop managers and supervisors, creating succession plans for future leadership.
  • Work with Human Resources on recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director regarding safety, production, quality, and human resources status.
  • Manage the overall operating budget in alignment with the business plan.
Additional Duties
  • Participate in safety and human resources initiatives within the facility.
  • Engage in safety audits, accident investigations, and safety meetings.
  • Oversee plant quality assurance measures to ensure high standards of product quality.
  • Assume daily operational responsibilities in the absence of the department manager.
  • Perform other necessary duties to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with the food manufacturing sector.
  • Understanding of USDA regulations and requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Awareness of human resources principles and employment law.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including mainframe, network, and PC business software.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Poultry, Animal or Food Science, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience is required. A minimum of five years of managerial experience in food processing is generally expected.
