Position Overview: The Senior Specialist in Operational Excellence is crucial in promoting a culture of ongoing improvement within our facilities. This role is instrumental in implementing key methodologies and supporting the Butterball Operating System Solution (BOSS) to enhance operational performance and minimize losses. The individual will lead initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by coaching team members and leaders in operational excellence principles.
  • Engage with stakeholders to effectively manage change and ensure participation throughout the improvement initiatives.
  • Document and maintain continuous improvement processes and best practices to standardize operations and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Balance immediate operational controls with long-term strategic goals.
  • Provide training on essential continuous improvement tools and methodologies to empower team members.
  • Lead and coordinate improvement projects that align with business objectives.
  • Support activities integral to the continuous improvement transformation and BOSS implementations.
  • Utilize value stream mapping to optimize production flow and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct Gemba walks and serve as a primary contact for continuous improvement-related inquiries.
  • Develop and implement standard work processes to ensure operational consistency.
  • Enhance transparency and accountability through the use of visual management tools.
  • Independently manage projects focused on resolving operational challenges impacting efficiency and output.
  • Analyze processes and collaborate with site personnel to eliminate obstacles.
  • Facilitate 5S initiatives to improve workplace organization and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior Continuous Improvement Specialists and provide expert guidance.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and benchmarks to identify opportunities for innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven experience in leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Results-driven with a focus on measurable operational enhancements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Operations Management, or Food Science.
  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment may substitute for a degree.
  • A minimum of three years in continuous improvement or process optimization roles.
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Retail, or Food Production is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of office and plant environments with exposure to varying conditions.
  • Physical requirements may include standing, sitting, and occasional lifting.
  • Compliance with GMP and use of PPE is mandatory in manufacturing areas.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to accommodate operational needs.
  • Willingness to travel to other facilities as required.
