Seattle, Washington, United States AngelList Full time

About Belltower Fund Group:

Belltower, established as AngelList's dedicated fund administrator, has evolved into an independent entity providing comprehensive fund administration services tailored for the venture capital sector. Our expertise encompasses a wide array of fund types, including syndicates, venture funds, and innovative rolling funds. By integrating financial reporting, tax compliance, portfolio management, and other essential services, we simplify the complexities of fund management, allowing fund managers to concentrate on their core competency: investing.

Since our inception, we have successfully supported over 20,000 funds, managing assets exceeding $16 billion through our advanced fund administration software, which enhances the service delivery for funds launched on the AngelList platform.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager of Fund Accounting plays a pivotal role in supervising the accounting, valuation, and reporting functions for a vast portfolio of over 10,000 funds managed via the AngelList platform. This position is integral to a team that handles intricate fund accounting tasks, balancing automation with manual processes that are yet to be fully automated. The Senior Manager will be responsible for resolving discrepancies, addressing investor queries, and investigating new technical challenges.

Reporting to the Fund Accounting Director, the Senior Manager will collaborate closely with fellow fund accounting professionals and cross-functional operations teams. Your focus will be on managing the production of financial reporting outputs for funds while ensuring precise accounting updates, including investment valuations, resolving discrepancies, addressing investor inquiries, and researching emerging technical issues. This role involves direct interaction with fund leads, investors, external auditors, and other stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee critical processes to ensure accurate accounting and reporting for investment entities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including descriptions, matrices, and flowcharts related to key processes and controls.
  • Establish and manage procedures for onboarding new clients from existing service providers.
  • Engage with external auditors to ensure timely completion of fund audits.
  • Supervise portfolio company events and assess data to determine appropriate valuation actions for investments.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting standards, particularly ASC 946 and ASC 820, while evaluating unique situations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation processes.

Your Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in investment company accounting, with a strong academic background and a CPA license preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting or within a fund administration or investment advisory role focused on fund accounting.
  • Proficient in US GAAP, particularly ASC 946 and ASC 820.
  • Extensive experience in creating financial statements for investment entities, including drafting footnotes.
  • A proven track record of enhancing financial reporting control environments and managing SOC 1 report processes.
  • Experience in preparing documentation for and coordinating with external auditors.
  • A strong commitment to success, self-motivation, and proactive engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with portfolio companies and leading investors.

Remote Work: Belltower Funds operates as a remote-first organization, allowing flexibility for team members across the United States and Canada.

Benefits: We prioritize the well-being of our employees, supporting their professional and personal lives.
