Seattle, Washington, United States AngelList Full time

About Belltower Fund Group:

Belltower was established as AngelList's dedicated fund administration service and transitioned to an independent entity at the end of 2023. We specialize in providing comprehensive fund administration solutions tailored for the venture capital sector. Our offerings encompass a wide range of services, from managing syndicates to supporting innovative rolling funds. By integrating financial reporting, tax compliance, portfolio management, and other essential services, we simplify the complexities of fund management, allowing fund managers to concentrate on their core mission: investing.

Since our inception, Belltower has successfully supported over 20,000 funds, managing assets exceeding $16 billion, all while utilizing AngelList's advanced fund administration software to enhance our service delivery.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager of Fund Accounting plays a pivotal role within our organization, overseeing the accounting, valuation, and reporting activities for a vast portfolio of over 10,000 funds managed through the AngelList platform. This position is integral to a team that handles intricate fund accounting tasks, utilizing both automated processes and manual interventions where necessary. The Senior Manager will address discrepancies, respond to investor inquiries, and investigate emerging technical challenges.

This role reports directly to the Fund Accounting Director and collaborates closely with fellow fund accounting professionals and cross-functional operational teams. Your primary focus will be on the timely production of financial reporting deliverables for funds, ensuring precise accounting updates—including investment valuations—resolving discrepancies, managing investor inquiries, and exploring new technical solutions. You will engage directly with fund leads, investors, external auditors, and other stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supervise essential team processes to guarantee accurate accounting and reporting for investment entities.
  • Create and maintain detailed descriptions, matrices, and flowcharts related to key processes and controls.
  • Establish and manage processes for onboarding new clients from current administrators and service providers.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of fund audits.
  • Oversee portfolio company events and data assessments, determining appropriate valuation actions for each investment.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting standards, particularly ASC 946 and ASC 820, while evaluating unique situations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation efforts.

Your Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in investment company accounting, complemented by a strong academic background and a CPA license (preferred).
  • Experience in public accounting or within a fund administration or investment advisory role focused on fund accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP, especially ASC 946 and ASC 820.
  • Extensive experience in preparing financial statements for investment companies/funds, including drafting footnotes.
  • A proven history of enhancing financial reporting control environments and managing SOC 1 report processes.
  • Experience in preparing documentation for and liaising with external auditors.
  • A strong commitment to success, with self-motivation and proactive engagement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with portfolio companies and leading investors.

If you do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to consider applying. We are committed to building a diverse team that balances and complements various skills.

Belltower Funds operates with a remote-first approach. This position is fully remote for candidates located in the United States or Canada.

Benefits: We prioritize supporting our employees in both their professional and personal lives.
