Youth Support Partner

San Diego Youth Services is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Partner within the I CARE Program, stationed at the Mid-City Youth Center. This is a full-time, exempt role reporting directly to the Program Manager.

Annually, we provide safe living environments and long-term solutions to more than 28,000 youth through our extensive network of over 100 community and school locations. Our mission includes prevention, early intervention, and treatment to assist youth before they require more intensive care or face homelessness.

- Address fundamental needs of youth. With rising issues of hunger, poverty, and youth homelessness, we strive to fulfill these essential needs.
- Foster positive relationships. We encourage youth to pursue constructive life changes and build healthy connections through our resources and services.
- Equip youth with essential life skills. We provide support to help youth cultivate the independent living skills necessary for self-sufficiency and stability.
- Enhance overall health and wellness. Our comprehensive services aim to assist youth in overcoming trauma and challenges that place them at risk.
The I CARE Program specifically supports youth up to age 21 who are at risk of or have experienced sexual exploitation. This program includes a mental health clinic and a drop-in center.
POSITION CONTEXT
The Youth Support Partner will deliver trauma-informed peer support and family assistance to Commercially Sexually Exploited (CSE) Youth and those at risk of exploitation throughout San Diego County. Responsibilities include supporting the drop-in center environment, facilitating group sessions, screening referrals, conducting intake assessments, collaborating with youth to create service plans, advocating for youth, and accompanying them to various meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an integrated treatment strategy for youth facing commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) alongside co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.
- Complete screenings, intakes, and related documentation for participants at the Drop-In Center.
- Maintain a productivity standard of 30% for billable services.
- Create individualized goal plans and provide coaching, peer support, and rehabilitative services.
- Offer assessment, guidance, and life planning support to participants.
- Facilitate 1-2 groups and ongoing activities at the Drop-In Center.
- Supervise and provide coverage for youth in the drop-in center environment.
- Ensure professional coordination of care with external providers.
- Facilitate linkages and referrals to community-based organizations and resources.
- Conduct outreach within the community.
- Monitor participant progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports.
- Transport participants as needed.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attend all staff meetings and participate actively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of experience, ideally working with high-risk adolescents.
- Must have 3+ years of lived experience prior to employment; bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Experience in crisis intervention, group facilitation, documentation, and case management is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
- Must maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
Salary Range: $17-$19/Hour
