Position Overview

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Laboratory Confirmations Supervisor to join our team. This role entails overseeing the confirmations department, which includes the preparation of samples and confirmatory analysis using LC/MS/MS techniques for urine and oral fluid specimens in a forensic context. Responsibilities encompass managing personnel, processes, inventory, and equipment. We are looking for individuals with robust skills in process enhancement, problem resolution, policy enforcement, compliance, communication, reporting, record maintenance, and overall laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise sample handling and liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) analyses in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Certify confirmation results.
  • Utilize expertise to produce high-quality work and achieve turnaround time (TAT) objectives.
  • Ensure all methodologies and validations comply with certification and regulatory standards under the guidance of laboratory leadership.
  • Collaborate with management to address operational challenges across departments and sites, resolving inquiries and issues on a daily basis.
  • Allocate work schedules and resources to meet production targets, adapt to workload fluctuations, and enhance laboratory quality and productivity.
  • Review and uphold departmental standard operating procedures in line with laboratory best practices.
  • Enforce adherence to all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines related to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), safety, environmental protocols, hazardous materials, equipment, and security.
  • Maintain accountability for attendance, productivity, training, and incident management among analytical staff, including performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all work is thorough, accurate, and meets our stringent quality standards.
  • Determine appropriate inventory levels and ensure materials are available to meet expected workload.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Information Technology department regarding troubleshooting and new product or process developments.
  • Actively engage in internal inspections and serve as a technical resource during external audits.
  • Schedule staff to ensure optimal production and coverage.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology) with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience.
  • Master's Degree in a scientific discipline with at least 3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Doctoral Degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Prior supervisory or training experience of over 2 years is required.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with sample preparation techniques and LC/MS/MS platforms.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and CAP accreditation standards.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power BI, and LIMS software.
