Position Overview:

Are you an experienced professional in the field of medical records with a commitment to supporting our Veterans? The Arizona Veterans Home is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee our medical records operations.

The selected candidate will be accountable for managing the medical records program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Veterans Administration (VA) regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and confidentiality of medical records while leading a team of Medical Records Specialists.

Furthermore, the Medical Records Supervisor will adopt and apply Arizona Management System (AMS) methodologies to enhance problem-solving and promote continuous improvement in processes.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Medical Records Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

Performing comprehensive audits and routine checks Ensuring medical records are complete and accurate Documenting audit results and reporting findings to management Gathering medical care, diagnosis, and census data for analytical reports Providing statistical data to other departments as required Interpreting regulations related to medical records and overseeing documentation accuracy Verifying completeness of Physician credentialing files and ensuring ongoing compliance Leading and mentoring subordinate staff to achieve departmental goals Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Policies and procedures of the work unit, Veterans Administration, CMS, and state regulations Standard practices and techniques in medical records management Medical and legal terminology Current ICD coding and classification Medicare/AHCCCS and various insurance protocols

Skills in:

Effective communication Time management Problem-solving Analytical thinking Supervisory capabilities

Ability to:

Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities Train both technical and clerical personnel Compile and present statistical data in comprehensive reports Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in medical records within a long-term care environment Previous supervisory experience Pre-Employment Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card Possession of a valid driver's license Current negative TB skin test or a physician's statement confirming freedom from tuberculosis if previously tested positive
