About The Position

Brightworks Sustainability is seeking a Sustainability Energy Consultant to become part of their expert team focused on climate-responsive design. This role is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive range of services and solutions aimed at addressing sustainability challenges both domestically and internationally. The consultant will collaborate with design and operations teams to perform analyses that support clients' objectives for energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. If you are passionate about conducting energy assessments and modeling to advance initiatives such as decarbonization, Living Building Challenge, LEED certification, and corporate sustainability efforts, this opportunity may align well with your career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve building systems, passive design strategies, and controls in both new and existing buildings.
  • Conduct energy evaluations for various building types utilizing modeling tools and tailored calculations.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in energy analysis methodologies.
  • Develop energy models and requisite documentation for compliance with regulations and green certifications.
  • Communicate complex energy analysis results effectively to clients and project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with project team members to ensure deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Assist with energy code permit submissions.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on project outputs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of energy-related proposals.
Desired Qualifications

Requirements
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly in articulating technical information clearly.
  • Proven experience in presenting technical details succinctly.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, energy modeling, and/or sustainability project management, with a minimum of 3 years concentrated on energy modeling.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture, with a preference for specific disciplines.
  • Expertise in energy modeling software such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or Energy Pro.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Revit/CAD and mechanical systems.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with early energy modeling programs and energy efficiency projects.
Work Environment

This role is primarily based at Brightworks' headquarters, with options for remote work available for candidates in locations where remote employees are already integrated within the company.

Compensation Information

The annual salary range for this position is competitive and influenced by various factors, typically falling within the lower half of the specified range. Previous salary history does not impact compensation decisions.

Employment Details

This is a full-time position with exempt status and no direct reports.
