Sustainability Engineering Specialist

Position Summary
W3Global Inc is on the lookout for skilled and driven Sustainability Engineers to enhance our engineering division. In this role, you will collaborate with seasoned experts, engage in sustainability initiatives, conduct energy evaluations, support feasibility assessments, and assist in delivering strategic energy management solutions to our utility clients' customers. Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance energy efficiency in commercial and industrial new construction endeavors.
- Identify and propose energy-saving strategies during the project review phase.
- Provide technical assistance to ensure the incorporation of energy-efficient practices.
- Aid in achieving energy efficiency program objectives.
Primary Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive project reviews for new constructions to pinpoint potential energy-saving measures and suggest enhancements.
- Work in conjunction with senior engineers and the engineering team to implement energy efficiency projects and strategies.
- Offer technical guidance to project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and clients, ensuring the integration of energy-efficient methodologies.
- Execute simulations and modeling to establish project specifications and support business cases for energy efficiency enhancements.
- Collaborate closely with clients to identify energy efficiency options and contribute to the formulation of customized strategies for new constructions.
- Perform engineering calculations and testing to optimize system performance and improve efficiency in new construction projects.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and progress tracking for energy efficiency initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Contribute to the creation of reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough energy evaluations, including the analysis of architectural and engineering plans to optimize thermal performance and natural lighting.
- Utilize energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQuest) to forecast the building's energy performance under various conditions.
- Benchmark energy consumption by comparing the building's performance against similar projects and ensuring adherence to relevant energy codes and standards.
- Select high-performance materials and energy-efficient systems to reduce energy usage.
- Analyze local climate data and perform site assessments to enhance the building's design for heating, cooling, and natural lighting requirements.
- Estimate energy consumption based on expected occupancy and operational patterns, developing models for different scenarios.
- Implement smart sensors and building management systems to monitor and regulate energy consumption.
- Assess the feasibility of incorporating renewable energy sources (e.g., solar panels, wind turbines) into the project.
- Collaborate with stakeholders through workshops and design sessions to embed energy efficiency into the design process.
- Prepare detailed energy reports and compliance documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with team members to ensure project deadlines are met while adhering to financial targets and cost-saving strategies.
- Utilize software programming for the development of technical documentation, presentations, and progress tracking.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, focusing on energy or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience or internships, with a strong interest in the energy sector.
- Understanding of energy efficiency principles and familiarity with HVAC, industrial manufacturing, and lighting systems is advantageous.
- Proficiency in energy and regression modeling, or a willingness to learn and apply these skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and a passion for sustainability and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in energy efficiency projects or a related field.
- Familiarity with new construction practices.
- Knowledge of utility and governmental energy programs.
