Job Description

Block is seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager to join our Security organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing large-scale security programs across the company, with a particular focus on Data Security.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and experience working directly with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and deliver multiple complex projects concurrently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage large-scale security programs across Block, with a focus on Data Security.
  • Manage multiple complex projects, often with competing timelines and resource needs.
  • Develop and iterate on light-weight tracking and reporting tools to drive accountability and reduce operational burden on engineering teams.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual planning for the Security PMO.
  • Define and drive process and framework improvements that benefit engineering and help us meet our goals of securing Block.
  • Implement PMO processes and standards.
  • Communicate program status broadly across our team and the company.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or similar, and 5 or more years of project management experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to inspire team members, stakeholders, and engineering customers.
  • Technical background and an understanding of SDLC, Data Security, and Privacy.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and deliver multiple complex projects concurrently.
  • Experience in interpreting and communicating technical requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of identifying and introducing engineering-focused operational improvements with measurable results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming experience for writing shipping code and/or work experience in managing engineering teams.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience using scripting and/or AI/Automation to scale and optimize.
  • Experience in tailoring PMO standards and processes for engineering teams.

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan, subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
