The foundational teams that comprise our organization — including People, Finance, Legal, Hardware, Information Security, and Platform Infrastructure Engineering — provide essential support and strategic guidance at the corporate level.

These teams collaborate across business units and international borders, transcending time zones and disciplines to create inclusive policies, forecast financials, provide legal guidance, protect systems, and nurture innovative initiatives.

Every challenge presents new opportunities, and we value diverse perspectives to uncover them. Bring your unique viewpoint to Block.
Role Overview
The Security division safeguards Block while enabling the organization to undertake calculated risks.

Our focus is on amplifying our impact, which involves establishing a robust Program Management Organization (PMO) to support security functions and initiatives.

This entails developing the necessary processes and frameworks for our teams and tools to expand effectively, as well as managing intricate projects as required.

As Block evolves, a structured and methodical approach to scaling will be crucial for our sustained success.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our Security PMO and assist in addressing the challenges associated with identifying and managing security risks across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee large-scale security initiatives throughout Block, with a specific emphasis on Data Security.
• Manage multiple complex projects that often have competing timelines and resource requirements.

• Cultivate diverse relationships with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Analytics teams at Block, providing insights and solutions that help these teams meet their objectives.

Enhance Existing Partnerships:

• Define, refine, and implement new programs aimed at minimizing security risks across the organization.
• Develop and improve lightweight tracking and reporting tools to foster accountability and alleviate operational burdens on engineering teams.
• Engage in quarterly and annual planning for the Security PMO.

Additional Responsibilities
• Drive multiple concurrent projects to successful completion, including managing schedules, budgets, and resources.
• Define and implement process and framework enhancements that benefit engineering while helping us achieve our security objectives.
• Establish PMO processes and standards.
• Communicate program status widely across our team and the organization.

Qualifications
You possess:
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, along with 5 or more years of project management experience.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to motivate team members, stakeholders, and engineering clients.

• A technical background and comprehension of SDLC, Data Security, and Privacy.
• Experience collaborating directly with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and deliver multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in interpreting and conveying technical requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A history of identifying and implementing engineering-focused operational improvements with measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
• Programming experience for writing production code and/or experience managing engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Experience utilizing scripting and/or AI/Automation for scaling and optimization.
• Experience customizing PMO standards and processes for engineering teams.

Compensation and Benefits
Block adopts a market-based approach to compensation, and pay may vary based on your location.

U.S. locations are categorized into zones based on a labor cost index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

Full-time employee benefits include:

• Healthcare coverage (Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance)
• Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account
• Retirement Plans with company match
• Employee Stock Purchase Program
• Wellness programs, including access to mental health resources, financial planners, and a monthly wellness allowance
• Paid parental and caregiving leave
• Paid time off (including 12 paid holidays)
• Paid sick leave (1 hour per 26 hours worked, up to 80 hours per calendar year for non-exempt employees)
• Learning and Development resources
• Paid Life insurance, AD&D, and disability benefits
