Role Overview
The Security division safeguards Block while enabling the organization to embrace calculated risks. Our focus is on amplifying our influence, which involves establishing a robust Program Management Organization (PMO) to oversee security functions and initiatives.

This role encompasses the development of processes and frameworks essential for scaling our teams and tools, as well as managing intricate projects as necessary. As Block expands, a structured and organized approach to scaling will be crucial for our sustained success.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee large-scale security initiatives across Block, with a specific emphasis on Data Security.
- Manage multiple complex projects, often balancing competing timelines and resource demands.
- Cultivate diverse relationships with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Analytics teams, providing insights and solutions that align with their objectives.

Enhance Internal Collaborations
- Define, refine, and implement new programs aimed at minimizing security risks across the organization.
- Develop and improve lightweight tracking and reporting tools to enhance accountability and alleviate operational burdens on engineering teams.
- Engage in quarterly and annual planning for the Security PMO.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities, with a proven track record of motivating team members and stakeholders.
- A technical background with a solid understanding of SDLC, Data Security, and Privacy.
- Experience collaborating directly with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and execute multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in interpreting and conveying technical requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A history of identifying and implementing engineering-focused operational enhancements with measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
- Programming experience for developing shipping code and/or experience managing engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Experience utilizing scripting and/or AI/Automation for scaling and optimization.
- Expertise in customizing PMO standards and processes for engineering teams.
