Role Overview
The Security division safeguards Block while enabling the organization to take calculated risks.

Our focus is on amplifying our impact, which involves establishing a robust Program Management Organization (PMO) to support security functions and initiatives.

This encompasses the development of processes and frameworks essential for our teams and tools to scale effectively, as well as managing intricate initiatives as required.

As Block expands, a systematic and organized approach to scaling will be vital for our sustained success.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our Security PMO and assist in addressing the challenges related to identifying and managing security risks across the organization.


Key Responsibilities
• Oversee large-scale security initiatives across Block, with a particular emphasis on Data Security.
• Manage multiple complex projects, often with competing timelines and resource demands.

• Cultivate diverse relationships with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Analytics teams at Block, providing insights and solutions that help teams achieve their objectives.


Enhance Internal Collaborations:

• Define, refine, and implement new programs aimed at minimizing security risks across the organization.
• Develop and improve lightweight tracking and reporting tools to foster accountability and alleviate operational burdens on engineering teams.
• Engage in quarterly and annual planning for the Security PMO.


Additional Responsibilities
• Drive multiple concurrent projects to successful completion, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and resource management.

• Define and implement process and framework enhancements that benefit engineering and support our security objectives.

• Establish PMO processes and standards.
• Communicate program status widely across our team and the organization.

Qualifications
You possess:
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, along with 5 or more years of project management experience.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to motivate team members, stakeholders, and engineering clients.

• A technical background with an understanding of SDLC, Data Security, and Privacy.
• Experience collaborating directly with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and deliver multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in interpreting and conveying technical requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A history of identifying and implementing engineering-focused operational improvements with measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
• Programming experience for writing production code and/or experience managing engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Experience utilizing scripting and/or AI/Automation for scaling and optimization.
• Experience in customizing PMO standards and processes for engineering teams.
