Job Summary:
The Senior Substation Engineer is responsible for delivering comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities, ensuring timely construction within allocated resources. This role includes providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs cost-effective, technically sound, and reliable substation physical and control systems. (10%)
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to resolve engineering challenges. (10%)
  • Leads an engineering team in producing accurate designs and documentation. (20%)
  • Generates precise cost estimates for budgeting purposes to identify cash flow needs. (15%)
  • Facilitates coordination with other departments to maintain project schedules and expenditures. (10%)
  • Contributes to the development of detailed project timelines and updates project management systems accordingly. (5%)
  • Monitors project spending and implements cost control measures to meet commitments. (5%)
  • Ensures quality assurance on projects by providing construction support, including site inspections. (5%)
  • Advises other departments on complex substation design issues. (5%)
  • Oversees and evaluates the work of engineering staff. (15%)

Compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations is essential in this role. The Senior Substation Engineer will also perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years in the engineering field with a focus on specialized technical work.

Required Skills:
Proven expertise in:
• Substation and control engineering principles.
• Economic analysis, budgeting processes, and adherence to company policies.
• Utility engineering practices, construction methods, and material specifications.

Demonstrated abilities include:
• Directing and reviewing the work of engineers, technicians, and designers.
• Exercising sound judgment and solving complex problems independently.

Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
