Core Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will deliver comprehensive engineering design solutions for substation facilities, ensuring timely construction within allocated resources. This role involves providing leadership, training, and guidance to team members.

Key Duties

  • Develop economically viable, technically sound, and reliable designs for substation physical and control systems with minimal oversight.
  • Ensure quality assurance on assigned projects by offering construction support, including coordination with construction teams and conducting site inspections.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with various departments to maintain project schedules and budget adherence.
  • Assist other departments in resolving unique substation design challenges.
  • Monitor project spending and implement cost control measures to meet financial commitments.
  • Provide precise cost estimates for budgeting processes to identify cash flow needs.
  • Contribute to the development of detailed project timelines and update project management systems to reflect project statuses.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements and understand all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the role and the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; candidates without a PE must have at least 8 years of engineering experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Proficient in:

  • Relay protection, wiring, control systems, and other facets of substation engineering.
  • Cost control, budgeting, finance, and accounting, with practical experience in cost analysis.

Skills include:

  • Analytical thinking, interpersonal communication, and collaboration with company personnel, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Multi-tasking, leadership, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Tools and Technology
Proficient in using PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Work Environment
This role typically involves a general office setting with some fieldwork for oversight purposes.
