We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our substation design team at NV Energy. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities, ensuring they are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop economical, technically feasible, and reliable substation physical and control designs with minimal supervision.
- Provide technical management of multiple substation projects, prioritizing work and collaborating with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections.
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments to complete procurement tasks on projects.
- Assist and guide other departments in solving non-standard substation design problems.
- Provide accurate cost estimates for company budgeting procedures.
- Develop and update project schedules and project management systems to reflect project status.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 8 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, with a PE license. Alternatively, 10+ years of experience as a practicing engineer without a PE license.
- Demonstrated knowledge of substation/control engineering principles and other phases of engineering.
- Specialized knowledge of cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting with technical experience in cost analysis.
- Skills in analytical, interpersonal, and communication, as well as multi-tasking, leadership, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving, and decision-making.
