ABOUT SAFE PLACE FOR YOUTH:
Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is a premier service provider dedicated to assisting youth who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. Established in 2011, our organization delivers trauma-informed, accessible programs aimed at helping young individuals transition from homelessness to stability, enabling them to thrive.
SPY is committed to addressing structural barriers to equity and fostering community collaboration through innovative, youth-centered programming. INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
The internship program at SPY offers a unique opportunity for current students to gain practical experience within the Human Resources Department.
Ideal candidates will possess self-motivation, a strong work ethic, and creativity. They should demonstrate professionalism, collaborate effectively with others, and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interns are expected to commute to various SPY locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in executing daily HR operations for the organization.
- Ensure the accuracy of candidate applications, organize and review CVs and resumes, manage job postings, and support the implementation of organizational policies.
- File documents and respond to inquiries from clients and employees.
- Conduct quality checks on reports and facilitate document signatures.
- Participate in organizing Career Days, Job Fairs, and company networking events.
- Develop surveys regarding staff satisfaction and benefits.
- Conduct research projects focused on analytics and trends within the HR department.
- Exhibit a professional work ethic.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization's mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Driver's License or State ID.
- Must be between 18-24 years of age.
- Must be currently enrolled in a university or college pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
- Familiarity with SPY and its services is preferred.
- Willingness to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Adaptability to changes in the work environment, including office and outdoor settings.
- Occasional physical effort, such as lifting up to 15-20 pounds.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual in this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with related requirements as a condition of employment.
