Position Overview
The Patient Scheduling and Authorization Specialist at Nicklaus Health plays a crucial role in facilitating the scheduling of appointments and managing authorizations for the Colorectal Center. This position requires collaboration with various departments and external entities to ensure a smooth scheduling process.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate personnel and taking messages as necessary.
- Document consult requests accurately.
- Coordinate the scheduling of patient office visits and surgical procedures, ensuring confirmation of appointments.
- Handle patient registration and complete intake processes for new patients.
- Conduct insurance verification and secure prior authorizations when required.
- Work closely with diverse teams and external offices to streamline appointment scheduling.
- Assist with clinic operations, including filing, supply ordering, and guiding patients to their designated areas.
- Maintain effective communication via email with patients, families, and external partners to ensure a seamless experience.
- Ensure thorough and precise documentation related to patient intake, insurance verification, and authorizations.

Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in customer service.

Bilingual:
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with insurance verification and prior authorization processes is preferred.
- Experience with Cerner EMR is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions for tasks such as filing and copying.
- Comfortable interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
