Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing complex procedures in Ultrasound through the operation of radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
  • Supervise and perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of a radiologist.
  • Assist with the education and training of new physicians.
  • Develop and implement new protocols and imaging techniques.
  • Participate in research initiatives and develop research protocols.
  • Act as a team leader and monitor charging of Ultrasound procedures and supplies.
  • Demonstrate Ultrasound equipment for site visits and provide in-service classes.
  • Obtain and examine orders for Ultrasound scans and ensure appropriateness.
  • Identify patient service requirements and verify patient ID.
  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with Ultrasound scanners and related equipment.
  • Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, and patient history to adapt exams as necessary.
  • Adhere to Ultrasound protocols and maintain high-quality ultrasound standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate competence in performing Ultrasound scans.
  • Assist with positioning patients and maintain proper aseptic technique.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures and evaluate Ultrasound scans for technical quality.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and charge procedures and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and provide assistance with orientation and training.
  • Apply physical age-specific and developmental care needs of patients.
  • Perform basic nursing functions and assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients.
  • Keep work areas clean and sanitary and provide on-call coverage.
  • Report unusual findings and adhere to hospital and departmental policies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and a graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or Vascular accredited program.
  • ARDMS registered and CPR and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
