WSP's Built Ecology practice focuses on sustainability in building design, offering a comprehensive array of services such as sustainability strategy development, goal-setting workshops, high-performance design support, intricate building performance analysis, certification processes, energy and greenhouse gas master planning, and performance verification. Our projects span various types and scales, from master planning and district infrastructure to building design and ongoing operations. Built Ecology has played a pivotal role in numerous leading projects globally, including LEED Platinum buildings, Living Building Challenge and WELL projects, Net Zero energy and water initiatives, EcoDistricts, corporate green building programs, and the decarbonization of extensive building portfolios. The Role

WSP is seeking a Senior Vice President - Sustainable Building Solutions with a focus on Energy and Climate strategies to enhance our Built Ecology practice. This role involves securing, staffing, managing, and delivering complex projects and client engagements. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for sustainability, demonstrate technical expertise in innovative energy and climate solutions, foster and expand client relationships, and exhibit leadership capabilities to deliver high-quality programs and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams to establish high-performance sustainability and Net Zero objectives, overseeing the development of advanced technical models.
  • Collaborate closely with MEP design teams and project managers to explore sustainable design solutions early in the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize energy and GHG modeling tools to conduct carbon modeling and formulate net zero carbon strategies.
  • Analyze climate data and building usage to inform design strategies.
  • Provide strategic advice on LEED and other certifications, particularly regarding energy and indoor environmental quality.
  • Ensure quality control for Built Ecology deliverables related to energy and climate strategy and implementation.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of project delivery standards to ensure consistent high-quality outcomes.
  • Strengthen existing client relationships and cultivate new client opportunities.
  • Establish a leadership presence within the industry and support business development initiatives.
  • Promote an integrative approach to problem-solving by collaborating with experts across various disciplines.
  • Guide and support staff development in energy and climate-related areas.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science.
  • 12+ years of experience in sustainability, energy, and climate consulting for buildings.
  • Familiarity with IECC and ASHRAE standards, Building Performance Standards, and energy efficiency codes.
  • Experience in managing teams and fostering staff development.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering documents.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and their components.
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification.
Preferred Skills
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect credentials.
  • Experience with energy modeling tools and district systems.
  • Expertise in coordinating green building certifications.
  • Familiarity with climate-related reporting frameworks.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems for specialized facilities.
