POSITION OVERVIEW

The Residential Solar Consultant (RSC) is an integral part of SunCommon's home sales team. RSCs will benefit from a mix of company-generated leads to initiate sales. A successful RSC will cultivate and utilize their own network of self-sourced leads, connections, and referrals to establish a strong pipeline of residential solar projects and clientele. This role is ideal for outgoing individuals who enjoy meeting new people, possess a strong work ethic, and adopt a structured, entrepreneurial mindset. As a certified B-Corp, our mission is to eliminate barriers to solar energy and leverage our business as a force for good, with Residential Solar Consultants playing a crucial role in this mission.

The SunCommon sales methodology is a consultative approach aimed at educating clients about the increasing significance of solar energy in our clean energy future and how homeowners can engage in the energy transformation led by our organization. Most customer interactions are conducted virtually during standard business hours, but we remain available for our clients when needed—whether it's evenings, weekends, or during inclement weather.

Residential Solar Consultants represent SunCommon to our clients and are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism. They are knowledgeable, adaptable, and confident, demonstrating exceptional customer service and attention to detail. They excel in building enduring customer relationships through active listening, effective communication, and showcasing their solar expertise. They possess a solid understanding of solar energy mechanics, project permitting processes, and the advantages of group net-metering, positioning themselves as innovative, customer-centric solution providers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engage in continuous self-education relevant to our industry and specific to your region.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by taking the time to understand your clients and their needs.
  • Inform clients about the SunCommon value proposition and tailor solutions that meet their current and future requirements.
  • Establish clear expectations that align with our capabilities to execute and deliver.
  • Close sales without exerting undue pressure.
  • Manage your pre- and post-sales pipeline meticulously.
  • Generate referral leads and self-sourced sales from new clients as well as through other contacts within our service areas.
  • Finalize agreements and sign contracts, both electronically and in client locations.
  • Effectively communicate the environmental and financial benefits of solar energy, emphasizing our mission and values.
  • Exhibit a positive and enthusiastic demeanor—this is essential.
  • Conduct in-home and virtual consultations and follow-up presentations on potential projects.
  • Assist clients in completing credit packages and financing applications.
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment, providing and receiving feedback to enhance personal and team performance.
  • Work alongside the Operations Team to ensure projects are ready for permitting, financing, and installation.
  • Provide timely updates to log communications with contacts in our CRM system and organize essential documents.
  • Contribute to SunCommon's culture by fostering a positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Passion for customer interaction and sales, with a positive attitude.
  • Experience in the solar industry.
  • Ability to convey technical and financial information clearly to diverse clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to independently generate new leads and deals while collaborating with the broader SunCommon team.
  • Strong self-organization, time management skills, and follow-through.
  • Proficiency with IT hardware and software, including basic mathematics and spreadsheets.
  • Commitment to staying informed about advancements in the solar and renewable energy sectors.
  • Dedication to social change initiatives.
  • Strong team player with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to identify opportunities in uncertain situations.
  • Effective communication skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
