As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our mechanical engineering team, reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. This small, dynamic group is focused on designing, testing, and implementing advanced mechanical systems. Your role will involve significant collaboration across various teams, including avionics, mechanical, integration, and production, with hands-on responsibilities in designing, building, integrating, and testing harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to establish hardware interfaces.
  • Design detailed harnesses, including routing definitions, and create enclosures for environmental protection.
  • Develop structural mounts to secure hardware within aircraft.
  • Engage in the design, installation, and testing of hardware on remotely operated aircraft.
  • Play a crucial role in the integration of hardware teams within the aircraft.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design.
  • Proficient in harness routing both in CAD and physically within aircraft.
  • Familiarity with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods.
  • Experience in designing and analyzing structural mounts.
  • A strong interest in spatial packaging.
  • Logical, inquisitive mindset with a willingness to teach and learn.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in harness design and avionics packaging.
  • Experience in performing design trades and detailed design of aerospace flight harnesses.
  • Familiarity with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer.
  • Experience in designing avionics enclosures.
  • Involvement in certification-path aviation development projects.
  • Experience testing hardware to DO-160 standards.
